Recovery Room
Well, here we are in the Recovery Room! When you get here from the OR, you'll be pretty sleepy. The nurses and technicians will monitor your vital signs and record your oxygen levels while you're waking up from the anesthetic. It may be possible for a family member to come into the recovery room when you're awake enough to recognize familiar faces. You may want to check with the staff ahead of time about their policy on this. As soon as you're awake and all your vital signs are stable, you'll be taken back to your room. You may still feel a bit woozy or lightheaded - that's perfectly NORMAL. Some people wake up faster than others and may actually be hungry or thirsty. When you get back to your room, just let the nursing staff know how you're feeling. And remember, the first time you get up, be sure to ask the staff for assistance. Your safety is our number one concern! |
